DESCRIPTION

Benny Hill can best be described as a great comedian and "laugh artist." Few have succeeded like him in combining the skill of modern television with the challenging art of silent film slapstick. Hill was not only a pioneer of TV comedy, but also an artist capable of creating comedy sketches with the skill of a ballet set designer: each scene is coordinated with scenic and visual rhythms, where entire comic eras blend seamlessly. A writer, performer, set designer, and producer of timeless comic masterpieces, his universal language earned him worldwide acclaim, becoming a source of inspiration for many future comedians in film and television. Although often relegated to a mere "comic character," Benny Hill's art transcended the confines of entertainment. His iconic mask left an indelible mark on anyone who saw him, even just once. This tribute to one of the greats of comedy is necessary to once again recall the greatness of an artist like Benny Hill.

This statue represents him in one of his most beloved characters of all time: Fred Scuttle, the shy, awkward, and clumsy character who, in every situation, amidst misunderstandings and clumsy moves, managed to unleash an unparalleled flood of comedy. The sculpture is inspired by a 1972 television sketch, in which the famous English host Nicholas Parsons "interviewed" Scuttle as the doorman/barker of a fictional striptease cabaret. The rest is history.
